Ingeborg E. Leach, 82, of Waldoboro, formerly of Kennebunkport, died Sept. 21 at Lincoln Health – Miles Memorial Hospital, Damariscotta, after a brief illness.
Ingeborg was born in Frankfurt, Germany on March 13, 1936, a daughter of Henry and Ida Oefner and graduated from Frankfurt High School. She then graduated from University of Frankfurt School of Nursing. She met Ronald Leach in 1956 while he was stationed with U.S. Army in Germany after the Korean War, they married in 1958.
In 1962, she moved to Kennebunkport where she was employed as nurse at the former Webber Hospital (now Southern Maine Healthcare of Biddeford) for over 41 years. She retired in 2002 and moved to Waldoboro.
Ingeborg loved farm animals, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family.
She was predeceased by her parents; beloved husband, Ronald H. Leach who died in 2007; and brother, Karl Oefner.
She is survived by her beloved son, Thomas Leach and wife Karen of Arundel; and beloved granddaughters, Jamie Powers of York, Calli-Ann Leach, and Katarina Leach, both of Arundel.
Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m., Wed., Sept. 26 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 27 at the chapel. Interment will follow at the Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.
