Irene W. (Whittier) Wellman, 81, of Gardner, Mass., formerly of Westminster, Mass., died at her daughter’s home on Nov. 6.
Irene was the wife of the late Frederick Wellman who died Aug. 8, 2002, they were married 55 years.
Irene was born in Jefferson on Feb. 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Merle and Dorothy (Day) Whittier. She was educated in Maine. She worked as a LPN at the former Gardner State Hospital in Gardner, Mass. for over 30 years prior to its closing. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster, Mass. and enjoyed her family and home.
She leaves her daughters, Kay Schulz and husband Eric of Gardner, Mass., with whom she lived, and Susan Lambert and husband Michael of Manchester, Conn.; grandchildren, Karin Morrill Barber, formerly of Gardner, Mass., Eric Lambert and wife Amy of S. Windsor, Conn., Amy (Barber) Annese and husband Vincent of Westford, Mass., Jennifer Lambert of W. Hartford, Conn., and Nathan Schulz of Gardner, Mass.; great-granddaughters, Madison Irene, Morgan Kayleigh, Paige Marie, and Sarah Noel; brother, Harold Whittier of Milford, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral 11:30 a.m., Wed., Nov. 11 in the First Congregational Church of Westminster, 138 Main St., Westminster, Mass. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery, Westminster, Mass.
