Iva J. Lewis, 94, of New Harbor, passed away at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta on the evening of Nov. 13.
Born in Whitefield on Oct. 22, 1917, she was the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Trask) Ripley.
As a young girl, Iva lived in Damariscotta with her aunt. She graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle in 1935. She then married William Melville Lewis and moved to Pemaquid Beach. She and her husband ran a store and the Pemaquid Beach Post Office. They moved the post office into their home and she was the post master for 37 years.
Iva enjoyed cooking, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. She was also active in several of the local ladies clubs in Bristol.
She was predeceased by her husband and two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Edward and wife Sandra of Bristol, Richard and wife Peggy of Walpole, and Barbara of New Harbor; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
At her request there will be no services.
