James A. Hall, 73, of Alna, passed away on Jan. 11 at home with his loving wife of 24 years, Jackie, by his side. Born in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of Stanley A. and Arlene F. Hall.
He moved to Edgecomb after vacationing with his parents at the Davis Brothers Cabins. He served in the Coast Guard after which he returned to Edgecomb to assist his good friend Laurence I. Davis with the operation of the Davis Brothers Cabins on Davis Island. He worked for two area auctioneers for many years and was an avid collector of many things. Two of his favorite pastimes were going in search of yard sales and benefit auctions.
He loved nature and spent as much time as possible in both spring and fall doing volunteer work at Baxter State Park where he met many good friends. With his friendly nature he made friends wherever he went.
He and his wife resided in the home they built on Davis Island until moving to Alna.
As well as his wife and many friends, Jim leaves, and will be lovingly remembered by his three stepchildren, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren as “Grumpa,” a name given him by the grandchildren he loved.
There will be a celebration of his life in the spring with the date and location to be announced at a later date.
