James A. Sanders, 57, of Frankfort, went to be with our Lord on July 19. He died peacefully at home with his wife and son at his side. Jim was born in Bangor Jan. 1, 1954, the son of Geraldine Wotton.
Jimmy, as he was mostly known, attended schools in Frankfort and Searsport. After high school he went to Orlando, Fla. to help construct Magic Mountain at Disney World. Afterward, he came back to Frankfort and worked with local construction companies.
In 1986, Jim suffered a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. He never felt sorry for himself, though, and he still loved Harleys. He received his license to drive again and then decided to keep fit by cutting firewood.
Jim was also well-known for his Coca-Cola collection, of which he was very proud. Jim was a faithful volunteer at all the National and American Folk Festivals, as he loved being around people. Jimmy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Jim was predeceased by his mother, Geraldine, and stepfather, Donald Wotton.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Roxanne; son, Michael; daughter, Amanda Hamilton; grandchildren, Xavier and Isaiah; brothers, Shawn Sanders and wife Vicki of Virginia and Donald Wotton and wife Rebecca of Bristol; and sisters, Lora Wotton of Harland, Heidi Wotton of New Harbor and Yvonne Gray and husband Bill of Orrington.
Jim will be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends, all of whom were very special to him. He will also be heartfully missed by a special friend whom he considered a father, Duke Nolte.
Celebration of Jim’s life 1 p.m., Sat., July 23 at Winterport Baptist Church, 100 Coles Corner Rd., Winterport, with pastors Aaron Martin and Steve Nute officiating.
