James E. Pranes, 81, of Waldoboro, passed away on April 25 at Glenridge Rehabilitation in Augusta. He was born in Hartford, Conn. on Feb. 11, 1932 to his parents, Mary and James Pranes.
Most of his childhood was spent in Connecticut and his teenage years in Belchertown, Mass. He graduated from high school in Belchertown and then started truck driving. Then James changed jobs and turned to driving school buses for special needs children. He also had a passion for carpentry and gardening.
James is predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nancy Pranes of Waldoboro; their son, James Pranes of Waldoboro; five children and six stepchildren, Donna Safford of Massachusetts, Cheryl Pranes of Massachusetts, Robert Pranes of New York, Kathleen Mitchell of Massachusetts, Patricia Brookes of Massachusetts, Jacquiline Bowden of Maine, Caroline Cram of Maine, Christine Bowden of Maine, Lloyd Bowden of Maine, Ricky Bowden of Massachusetts, and Lisa Day of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
