James I. Rockefeller, 76, of Dresden, died July 27 after a short illness.
He was born in Orland on Aug. 4, 1932, a son of the late James K. and Pauline Rockefeller. He graduated from Morse High School in Bath and proudly served four years in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He made his living by selling and repairing small engine equipment and owned his own business in Exeter, N.H. He moved back to the Bath area in 1986 and enjoyed retirement in the home he built in Woolwich.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Tardiff), and granddaughter, Kelley Seavey.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Claire; two sons, Dale C. Rockefeller and wife Christine of Greenland, N.H., and Richard Currier of Burnham; three daughters, Diane Maune and husband Jerry of Fisherville, Ky., Valerie Seavey and husband Randy of Bernard, and Nancy Foster and husband Rodney of Dresden; and 11 grandchildren.
No formal service is planned. Celebration of his life Aug. 1 at Kennebec Tavern in Bath.
