James (Jim) E. Verney, 68, of Sheepscott, passed away Aug. 12 after a long, hard battle with liver disease.
Jim loved the outdoors and spent a lot of his time gardening, hunting, fishing relaxing on his deck, or traveling around the Moosehead area.
Jim grew up in Sheepscott Village surrounded by tons of family and enjoyed the summer weekends when his Kingfield family would come to their cottage.
Jim devoted many years to the Sheepscott Fire Department as a firefighter then as chief when his father retired. He also spent many years in the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service.
He is predeceased by his parents, Elbridge and Helen Verney; and son, Dean Verney.
He is survived by wife, Linda B. Verney of Sheepscott; daughter, Ann Verney-Perrello, husband Donny and their son Jayson of Sheepscott; daughter-in-law, Erin Savage and son Ricky of Brunswick; sister, Priscilla Puckey and husband Jack of Newcastle; grandson, Brent Verney, partner Kristina and their daughter Willow of Jefferson; granddaughter, Kelsey Verney, partner Justin and their son Cooper of South China; “adopted” daughter, Stacey Kelsey and children Makayla and Braydon of Vassalboro; nieces, Sonya Verney of Bristol, Leah Cowan, husband David and their sons Brett and Chad of Bristol and Damariscotta; and numerous cousins.
Per Jim’s request there will be no services.
