James Steele Gow III, 57, of Waldoboro, was found dead Aug. 25 at his home in North Waldoboro.
He was born on April 20, 1950, the son of Dr. J. Steele Gow, Jr. and Dr. Doris (Trayon) Gow of Pittsburgh.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he lived and painted along the banks of the Medomak River in North Waldoboro for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his art, his animals and his two sisters, Donna Gow Taylor of Lower Burrell, Penn. and Robin Gow Wingard of Oakmont, Penn.
Interment will be at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown, Mass., following a private graveside service performed by Rev. Hugh M. Taylor.
