James Wilder Anderson, 78, of Damariscotta and Cushing, went to be with the Lord on June 23 from Central Maine Medical Center.
James was the son of Richard B. and Emma Wilder Anderson. He was born in Boston, Mass. on April 27, 1933 and was raised in Springfield, Mass. where he and his family owned and operated Camp Wilder for over 50 years.
He graduated from Boston University with a degree in Public Relations and Communications. He serviced his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama for two years. He worked for WGGB in the sales department for many years. After retirement he and his wife made their home in Cushing. The course of his life changed on Dec. 21, 1980 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Jim was a faithful servant and an active participant at Midcoast Country Chapel in Wiscasset where he worshipped with his family and delighted in teaching children about Jesus. Recently, Jim suffered from various health issues, yet he used this opportunity to share the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ.
He was predeceased by his sister, Georgia Anderson Pendleton and brother David Brigham Anderson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Gifford Anderson of Damariscotta; children, Whitney Gifford Anderson and wife Kathleen of Holyoke, Mass., Karen E. Robbins and husband Wayne of Whitefield and Julia A. Collwell of Walpole; and grandchildren, Drew Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Justin Robbins, Natalie Robbins, Lilly Richardson and Emma Helen Colwell.
Memorial service celebrating Jim’s life 11 a.m., Sat., July 30 at Midcoast Country Chapel, Rt. 1, Wiscasset, with internment to take place at a later time at the Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, Mass.
