Jane E. Fossett, 98, passed away on the morning of Oct. 10 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born on June 16, 1916 at the Twin Elms Farm in Lincolnville, she was the daughter of Horace and Annie (Richards) Miller.
Jane was a graduate of Crosby High School in Belfast, and the Maine School of Commerce in Bangor and an alumnus of Husson College.
She was a bookkeeper for many years, starting with various shoe companies throughout the region. After moving to Round Pond with her husband, the late Albert Fossett, she was a bookkeeper for Hunt Brothers’ Lumber for many years.
Jane was a member of the Round Pond United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, as well as the Thimble Club in Round Pond. She loved all needlework, including knitting, and was a wonderful seamstress.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Doris M. Holmes; and stepdaughter, June Fossett Seigars.
She is survived by daughter, Anne Fossett and friend Chris Herald of Damariscotta; and grandchildren, Matthew Herald and daughter Cheyenne of St. Louis, Mo., Neil Wallace of Portland, Justin Wallace of Waldoboro, Jerry Seigars of Gardiner, Patti Seigars Deer of Gorham, and Kathi Seigars of Richmond.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Fri., Oct. 17 at the Chamberlain Cemetery in Round Pond.
