Janet M. Seigars passed away Dec. 28 after suffering a stroke while at home with her family for the Christmas holiday.
Born March 11, 1943, in Hallowell, she was the only daughter of James H. and Marjorie E. Flagg Emerson.
Janet was educated in the Hallowell area and a high school graduate.
Following her marriage to Stanley W. Seigars, Janet was a homemaker and mother. She loved to crochet, and handcraft items. She also enjoyed word and picture puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially at the annual family Memorial Day gathering.
Janet was predeceased by twin infant sons.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley, of Damariscotta; sons, Tim Sanford and wife Sandie of Cushing, and John Sanford and girlfriend Janet of Rockland; daughters, Annette Price and husband Dana of Mechanic Falls, and Linda Wadsworth of Vinalhaven; brothers, James Emerson and wife Diane of Farmington, Larry Emerson and wife Barbara of Rockland, Randy Emerson and wife Sandy of Waldoboro, David Emerson and wife Charlotte of Rockland, Terry Emerson and wife Elaine of Friendship, and Harold ‘Rusty’ Emerson of Waldoboro; 18 grandchildren; 37 nephews and nieces; 51 great-nephews and nieces; and one great-great-nephew, as well as several cousins.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., Jan. 20 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland; all who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
