Janice M. Crosby, 66, of Jefferson, died unexpectedly on April 3 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus.
She was born in Augusta on Aug. 26, 1940, a daughter of Chauncey W. and Thelma A. (Darroch) Hallowell. Mrs. Crosby was a graduate of Erskine Academy, class of 1958.
She was employed by the State of Maine, Harness Racing and also the Dairy and Nutrition Council, as well as being co-owner of Crosby Lumber with her husband, Stanley.
Janice was very involved with helping mentally disabled children and held a special place in her heart for them.
Mrs. Crosby was predeceased by her father, Chauncey W. Hallowell.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Stanley N. Crosby of Jefferson; sons, Jay Crosby of Belfast and Trevor Crosby of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Kelly Colby and husband Nat of Windsor; mother, Thelma A. (Darroch) Hallowell of Augusta; sister, Norma Miller of Windsor; grandchildren, Shane and Kelsey Colby; as well as nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 2-4 p.m., Sat., April 7 at Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel, 983 Ridge Rd. (Rt.32), Windsor.
Graveside service will be held later this spring in Rest Haven Cemetery, Windsor.
