Jean E. Ogilvie Huber, of Jefferson, passed away Jan. 22 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Jefferson on Nov. 22, 1938, the daughter of George and Alice Hoffses Ogilvie.
Jean grew up in Jefferson, attended Jefferson Village School, and graduated from Maine Central Institute in 1956 and Gates Business School in 1958.
On May 20, 1960, she married Paul H. Huber of Wiscasset.
She worked in her grandfather’s general store, H.G. Hoffses in Jefferson, with her stepfather Marshall Holmes until 1969. Jean also worked as a clerk in the Jefferson Post Office. In December 1990, she went back to work at Fieldcrest Manor Nursing Home from which she retired in April 2006.
She was a member of the Lakeview Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star #179 of Jefferson. She enjoyed canning and freezing vegetables that she and her husband grew in their vegetable garden, and staying home to raise her three children.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Paul H. Huber; son, Paul H. Huber II and wife Jill of Jefferson; daughters, Catherine F. Huber and companion Matthew L. Moore of Jefferson, and Marjorie J. Greenleaf and husband Thomas of Jefferson; grandchildren, Emily J. and Nicholas P. Huber of Jefferson, and Andrew T. and Jason A. Greenleaf of Jefferson; brothers, George E. Ogilvie and wife Toni of Jefferson, Allen H. Holmes and wife Florence of Albion, and Frank M. Holmes of Windsor; aunts, Edith Payson of Union, and Anne Reed of Augusta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m., Fri., Jan. 26 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Jean’s life 10 a.m., Sat., Jan. 27 at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, with the Rev. Bette Bond officiating.
