Jean Kimball Hutchins, 78, of Waldoboro, died Nov. 7 at her residence after a long period of failing health with her family at her side.
Jean was born Nov. 20, 1930 in Augusta, the daughter of George and Rena Ludwig Kimball, and is a graduate of Richmond High School and Bates Business School.
She married Raymond Hutchins April 18, 1951, and they made their home in Waldoboro. Together they operated the former Hutchins Store near their home. Most recently, she worked for the Vannah Insurance Agency as a secretary.
Active in her community, she was a member and served as secretary for the Orff’s Corner Community Church, Orff’s Corner Community Center, volunteered at the Coastal Workshop in Rockport, enjoyed playing bingo, cards with friends and taking bus tours.
She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Hutchins, and son, Dean Hutchins.
Survivors include sons, Dennis R. Hutchins, Sr. and wife Karen of Waldoboro, and Darryl Hutchins and wife Nina of Somerville; daughters, Donna Sutter and companion Ron Bernard of Augusta, and Debbie Hutchins and companion Jeannette Corley of Anson; sisters, Anne Perkins and husband Clyde of Dresden, and Lois Fournier of Brunswick; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
An hour of visitation 1-2 p.m., Wed., Nov. 11 at the Orff’s Corner Community Church, Winslow Mill Rd., Waldoboro. Celebration of her life 2 p.m. at the church, followed by a committal service at the Orff’s Corner Cemetery.
