Jeanne M. Lane, 89, of Bristol, passed away on Sat., April 14 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, from injuries she sustained in a rollover car crash. She was born on Aug. 30, 1928 in Cambridge, Mass. and was raised by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Naughton.
Jeanne was happily married to John B. Lane for 52 years, until his passing three years ago. They had a successful photography business together after their retirements from career jobs on the Cape, and came up to live in New Harbor. Jeanne had loved her previous job as a stock broker at Bache and Co. Brokerage Firm in Hyannis, Mass.
Jeanne was always one to give back, and she did so by volunteering at Miles Memorial Hospital, working as a substitute teacher, and working part-time at the Seagull Gift Shop which she really enjoyed.
She was a loving wife, mother, step-mother, and step-grandmother, and step-great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by son, Freddy; parents, Edward and Dorothy Naughton; husband, Jack Lane; and a step-great grandchild, Mark Immelt Whelden.
Surviving are stepdaughters, Gennie Whelden and husband Mike Dennis of North Falmouth, Mass., and Peggi-Beth Doxsee and husband Charlie of Bedford, N.H.; step-grandchildren, Ben Whelden, Brooke Jaquello, Meghan Andrade, and Taylor Doxsee; and step-great grandchildren Finn, Maggie, Wesley, Jayden, Kyle, Tyler, Brady, Skylar, and Molly.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., April 28 at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle. A luncheon will follow the service at the 1812 Farm in Bristol for all family and friends. She will be laid to rest privately in the New Harbor Cemetery at a later date.
