Jeannette T. Hemingway, 82, of Jefferson, died May 31 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockland.
She was born in Jefferson on Oct. 18, 1926, the daughter of Dwight and Ruth (Whitney) Turner.
Jeannette attended Jefferson Village School and graduated from Farmington High School. Her most recent employment was a CNA and Sitter at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, until her stroke in December of 2007.
She had a love of nature, enjoyed reading and studied everything possible about our cosmic family (spirits, angels and extraterrestrial beings). For the past 20 years, she has lived at her childhood home in Jefferson by her beloved river, ledges and pine trees.
She was predeceased by a son, George Lajoie in 1994; brother, Lyman Turner in 2008; and her beloved cat of 10 years, Cry Baby, also in 2008.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Kate) Krenshaw of Orlando, Fla. and Suzanne Hamilton of Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Diane Lajoie of Stillwater, Minn.; sister, Amy Alexander of Silver Spring, Md.; brother, Ralph Turner of Hollis Center; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service 7 p.m., Thurs., June 4 at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson.
Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
