Jennie Adeline “Jane” Hutchins, 85, passed away at Safe Havens in Boothbay Harbor on Oct. 26. She was born on Nov. 15, 1928 in Portland, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lola (Reed) Morrison.
Jane attended Boothbay Harbor High School. After graduating, she met and married Duane I. Hutchins. Jane was a mainstay at Porter’s Drugstore which later was known as Downeast Pharmacy where she worked for 50 years.
Jane loved walking, working in her yard, singing and playing the guitar. Jane loved to yodel and was quite good, being featured on the Ken Mackenzie show. Jane had a heart of gold and loved nothing more than spending time with animals and young children especially Tyler Campbell. Jane enjoyed her 3 o’clock “Heave a Head” and daily crossword with her best friend Sissy. In the summer months Jane loved going to the Carousel where she would meet all kinds of celebrities, making sure to get all of their autographs. She was included in the article “Faces of Boothbay Harbor” published in the March 1993 issue of Downeast Magazine.
Family and friends, she may have forgotten your faces and names, but she carried you in her heart. Rejoice in knowing “She’s finest kind and A-1.”
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Duane I. Hutchins.
She is survived by her nieces, Karen Nelson of Boothbay, Dell Michael of Biddeford, Zandy Long of Boothbay, and Tracy Grover of Boothbay; and good friend, Elizabeth Frost of Jupiter, Fla.
