Jerome “Jerry” Farrin, 63, of New Harbor, passed away on the morning of Dec. 26 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with his family by his side. Born on May 29, 1948, he was the son of Alva and Frances (House) Farrin.
Jerry grew up in South Bristol, attending schools there, and later attending Bristol High School. When he was 18 years old, he started working for Poole Brothers Lumber and would continue to work there until the time of his death. In 2007, he celebrated 40 years of dedicated service to the company, with a celebration in his honor.
For years he raced his stock cars at the Wiscasset Speedway, and loved going to see his son and grandson at their motor cross races. His weekends from April to October were designed around watching them race.
He was the organizing force behind the Merritt Brackett Lobster Boat Races for many years, and loved every minute of it. He greatly enjoyed hunting and took to the woods any chance he got.
Above all, he was a great man, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered by all for his caring ways and his great sense of humor.
Jerry was predeceased by his father, Alva Farrin; stepfathers, Rostron Connors and Edwin Mank; and son, Jerome Prescott Farrin.
He is survived by his wife, Lilla (Benner) Farrin of New Harbor; mother, Frances Mank of Waldoboro; son, Gary Farrin and wife Michelle of Round Pond; grandson, Zach Farrin of Round Pond; brothers, Bruce Farrin and wife Judy of Walpole, and Pat Farrin and wife Robin of Boothbay; sisters, Becky Dolloff of Boothbay, Ruth Farrin of Boothbay, and Cindy Santheson and husband Kyle of Waldoboro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
