Jerry David Grover, Sr., 65, of Waldoboro, passed away Feb. 18. Born in Camden, Mr. Grover was the son of Ernest and Lottie Demmons Grover. Mr. Grover was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a heavy equipment operator during the Vietnam Conflict. After returning home he met and married Leona C. Kennedy. In August 2008 the couple celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Together they have made their home in Waldoboro for the past six years. Jerry was jack of all trades and a very hard worker. He was an experienced welder and was employed by Fisher Engineering for many years. Most recently he owned and operated J.D. Grover Transport. Mr. Grover’s greatest joy in his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry was predeceased by two brothers, Robert L. Grover and Neal A. Grover; and one sister, Josephine M. Root.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; two sons, Ronald S. Grover and Jerry D. Grover Jr. of Waldoboro; two sisters, Mildred Murchinson and Betty Goodwin; six grandchildren, Ronald S. Grover, Jr., Breana Little, Alyssa Grover, Robert Grover, Nicholas Grover, and Christopher Grover; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private viewing will be held at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Graveside service 10 a.m., Sat., June 20 at the New Rockville Cemetery in Rockport, followed by a gathering at the family home in Waldoboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jerry’s memory may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Caren St., Springfield, MA 01104.
