Joanna Evans Bardo, 91, of Wiscasset, died Jan. 29 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Wiscasset on Aug. 24, 1919, a daughter of Sidney G. and Laura (Holmes) Evans.
She attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1936. She graduated from University of Maine in Orono in 1941 and on June 12, 1946 she married Clinton L. Bardo. She was employed as a dietician at the Pentagon, Harvard University in Boston and University of New Hampshire. She was also employed as a Home Economics Teacher at Leavitt Institute in Turner and Hamden High School in Hamden, Conn. where she retired in 1978. Upon retirement Joanna and her husband returned to Wiscasset.
She enjoyed her family, friends, the beach and her clubs.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Wiscasset, the Wiscasset Garden Club and the Georgetown Working League.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clinton L. Bardo on Sept. 5, 2003.
She is survived by a son, Jon Bardo; daughters, Rebecca Brillant, Cynthia Burnell and Martha Welch; brother, Edward Evans; grandchildren, Kenneth Brillant, Joanna Boland and Constance Lamoreaux, six great-grandchildren; a niece; and nephews.
Memorial service 2 p.m., Fri., Feb. 4 at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter officiating. Gathering of family and friends will follow at the church Parish Hall
