Joanne Rice Dresser, 69, passed away on Nov. 12 at her residence in Edgecomb following a long illness.
Mrs. Dresser was born in East Boothbay, Dec. 5, 1937, the daughter of Bernard and Velma Perkins Rice. She attended Boothbay Region schools.
She worked in local restaurants and Romar Bowling Lanes for many years, before opening the Lighthouse Restaurant in Boothbay.
In the 1970 s, Joanne was a loving foster parent to many children.
She was a member of Running Start at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, loved to go shopping, and make handcrafts.
Joanne is predeceased by her husband of 12 years, Edwin Dresser.
She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Cindy Fuller and husband Leonard of Boothbay Harbor, and Susanne LaPlaca of Edgecomb; sisters, Ruth Rice Lyndal and husband George of Baltimore, Md., and Roberta Rice Kelley and husband Milton of Wiscasset; grandchildren, Angela Haskell and husband Christopher of Edgecomb, Krystlerose Hodgdon and husband Christopher of Boothbay Harbor, and Barrett Fuller of Boothbay Harbor; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Natasha Haskell of Edgecomb; and many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
A graveside service will be held in the spring.
