John “Buster” Winslow Sr., 78, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully Oct. 23 at the Knox Center in Rockland. He was born in North Waldoboro, Dec. 13, 1934 to Clarence and Ella Hildebrandt Winslow. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools. He graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of 1953.
He worked for Eddie Noyes Auto Body Shop in North Waldoboro for many years. He later became a truck driver for Bay State Lobster Company out of Massachusetts.
He and his wife Maryann made their home in North Waldoboro and enjoyed family and friends, gardening and spending time at their camp on Medomak Pond.
Buster enjoyed working on antique cars in his spare time. If it had a motor, doors and fenders then he would work on it. He and Maryann were also part of the Dirigo Cyclist Club of Knox and Lincoln County and enjoyed riding in his MG with the Downeast Sports Car Club.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, William “Billy” Winslow; and beloved dog, “Nellie,” the second Mrs. Winslow.
Buster is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maryann Holland Winslow of Waldoboro; son, John W. Winslow Jr. and wife Libbie of Waldoboro; daughters, Katrina Blood and husband Karl of Union, Jane Curtis and husband Fulton of Waldoboro, and Andrea Gamage and husband William of Owls Head; grandchildren, Shauna Winslow of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jonathan Blood of Portland, Kasey Blood of Rockport, Alex Winslow of Portland, Veronica Gould of Waldoboro, Derick Winslow of Waldoboro, Shaydlyn Robinson of Owls Head, and Joseph Gamage of Owls Head; and great-grandchildren, Tara and Jacob Morrison of Waldoboro, and Mason Harford of Rockport.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family 6-8 p.m., Mon., Oct. 28 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. A service to celebrate Buster’s life will be held 1 p.m., Tues., Oct 29 at the Hall Funeral Home. Pastor Tom Rawley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro.
