John F. Robinson, 59, of Cushing, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Jan. 14 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Rockland, the son of the late Allison and Ruth (Roscoe) Robinson. He attended local schools and was a 1968 graduate of Rockland District High School.
He had several places of employment including the Strand Theatre, O’Hara, and National Sea Products. In 1976, he started a 32-year career in painting and wall papering in which he took great pride. His favorite pastime was hunting rabbits with his Beagle Missy. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica, drums, dancing, listening to country music, and traveling around the countryside with his wife in his Holiday Rambler RV (which he called Big Red Wagon).
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Richard W. Robinson; and his brother-in-law, Shirley Beal.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Millie; son, Christopher and wife Andrea and their two children, Joshua and Emily of Waldoboro; daughter, Melissa and husband Eric Schweighauser, and their two children, Jacob and Morgan of Fort Knox, Ky.; sisters, Lorraine and husband Donald Cassidy of Brunswick, Linda Moss of Thomaston and Lakeland, Fla., and twin sister Judy and husband Bryan Smith of Austin, Tex.; brother, Ervin (Bubba) and wife Jean of Waldoboro; stepchildren, Dennis Proctor and wife of Falmouth, Susan Lindley and family of Las Crusas, N.M., Cynthia Linneken and family of Freeport; and five nieces and seven nephews.
Service to celebrate John’s life will be held at a later date.
