John “Jake” David Dow II, 53, passed away Nov. 26 at his home in Cody, Wyo.
Jake was born Oct. 23, 1958 in Caribou. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle. He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard. Jake was a fabulous chef working at The Cheechako and the Taste of Maine. He also enjoyed cooking for his friends and family. He was a poet and songwriter, and a phenomenal musician. His passion was playing rock and blues on one of his many guitars. He liked playing for crowds and traveling with his band as well as jamming by himself in his beloved studio. Jake was a loyal friend, a caring father, and a “never a dull moment” husband.
He was proceeded in death by his father, John “Jack” D. Dow and mother, Eleanor Lincoln Dow.
He is survived his loving wife, Connie Dow of Cody, Wyo.; sister, Jacklyn and husband Christopher Reed of Wiscasset; son, John Dow III of Nobleboro; daughter, Emily and husband Daniel Fauver of Worland, Wyo.; stepdaughter, Suzi and husband Brett Hendrickx of Puyallup, Wash.; stepson, Joe Bell and wife Sheba of Bozeman, Mont.; grandchild, Eden Fauver; step-grandchildren, Makenzi and husband John Butler, Hallie Ring, Ethan Hendrickx, and Andy Downen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jake will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Cody, Wyo. 2 p.m., Fri., Dec. 2 with military honors provided.
