John N. Gasparini, 91, passed away on the evening of Dec. 5 at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born on Nov. 1, 1923 and raised in Clifton, N.J., he was the son of John and Clara (Moro) Gasparini. After marrying his wife, Adeline, he moved to South Jersey, eventually residing in Spring Lake, N.J. before retiring to Newcastle.
John served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He went on to attain a master’s degree from Rutgers University. He had a long career as a principal in the Wall Township Public Schools in New Jersey, and retired at the age of 66.
He was a parishioner of Saint Patrick’s Church in Newcastle, where he was also a member of the church choir. He was also a volunteer at Miles Memorial Hospital. He loved to walk, cross-country ski, and enjoyed gliding.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Adeline.
He is survived by sister, Claire Van Ness; niece, Janine Frustieri and husband Gary, all of New Jersey; dear friends, Dianne and Kenneth Ochse; and many other dear friends and caregivers whom he loved as family.
Family and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral service at 2 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 11 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Newcastle.
