John R. Gallagher, Jr., 85, of Edgecomb, passed away at his residence on Oct. 2.
He was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Bath, a son of John R. Gallagher, Sr. and Ruth Morse Gallagher.
He worked at Bath Iron Works for 45 years, 26 of them as leading man.
He was a member of the Huntoon Hill Grange, Lincoln Pomona, and Maine State Grange. He was a life member of Polar Star Lodge #114 of Bath since 1945.
He enjoyed his animals, going to yard sales, and going out to eat.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Light Gallagher, and a brother, Robert Gallagher.
He is survived by two sons, John R. Gallagher III of Arizona and Joseph Gallagher of Damariscotta; daughters, Eleanor Likes of Lynnwood, Wash., and Jany Wasdin of 29 Palms, Cal.; and sisters, Ruth Dodge of Bowdoinham and Helen Goff of Muskogee, Okla.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., with a Masonic service by the Polar Star Lodge at 7 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 4 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay.
Funeral 11 a.m., Fri., Oct. 5 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home with Rev. Lisa M. Burger officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
