John Ruit III, born on Aug. 4, 1951 in Paterson, N.J., departed this world on Oct. 7, 2023, after battling esophageal cancer. He was 72 years old.
John dedicated 26 years of his life to the Wyckoff, N.J. Department of Public Works, retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, John and his wife, Nina Ruit, made their home in Bristol.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Jr. and Dorothy Ruit. John is survived by his loving wife, Nina; their son, John Daniel Ruit; his stepson, Sam Klatch; his brother, Robert Ruit; and nephew, Steven Ruit. His grandson, Sawyer Ruit, brought immense joy into his life, and he cherished their time together.
One of John’s enduring passions was his involvement with the Wyckoff Sicomac Engine Company No. 3 in New Jersey, where he dedicated over three decades of his life. His contributions to the community as a firefighter will always be remembered and appreciated.
John Ruit III leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and resilience. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
