John V. Reilly, 87, of Plymouth Meeting, Penn., died on Sept. 25 at his home. Born Aug. 10, 1927 in Minersville, Penn., he was the son of the late Mae (Slane) and Emmett Reilly, and husband of Elizabeth (Foster) Reilly. Mr. Reilly was the eldest and last survivor of his six siblings.
After his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Reilly attended and graduated from Penn State. He was a devoted educator working over his 35-year career as an elementary school teacher, principal and director of personnel for the Tredyffrin Easttown School District. He was passionate about reading and sports, particularly baseball. He and his wife enjoyed travelling, especially to their second home in Damariscotta.
Survivors include sons, Christopher (John Miller) Reilly, Steven F. (Catherine) Reilly, and their children: Katie, Kevin, and Emily; both of Plymouth Meeting, Penn.; and Daniel (Jennifer) Reilly, and their children Bryce and Sydney, of Ft. Washington, Penn.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Wed., Oct. 1 at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., Penn. with his memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial of his ashes will be held privately at the convenience of the family at the Church of the Messiah Cemetery, Lower Gwynedd, Penn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to Special Olympics PA, 2570 Blvd of the Generals, Suite # 124, Ntn., PA 19403 and/or the Heart Pavilion of Lankenau Hospital, E Lancaster Ave., Wynnewood, PA 19096.
