Joseph Warren Morrill, II, 72, of Nashua, N.H., died at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, N.H., on April 9 following a brave fight with pulmonary fibrosis. Mr. Morrill was born on Nov. 25, 1933, in Boston, Mass., son of the late Joseph W. and Ernestein (Hunt) Morrill, Sr. He has been a resident of Nashua, N.H., for the past 26 years, prior to which he had lived in Westford, Mass. He was the husband of Ellen B. (Moore) Morrill, whom he married on June 26, 1982. They shared 23 years of marriage. Most recently, Mr. Morrill had been a licensed master plumber, prior to which he had been the Deputy City Engineer for the City of Nashua, N.H., for 29 years and retired in 1999. At one time, he had worked for the New York Central Railroad. Mr. Morrill was a dedicated and loving father. He and his wife had square danced for many years. He enjoyed sailing and was proud to be part of the crew for Sail Boston twice. He loved railroading, and had just recently started model railroading. For many years, Mr. Morrill was a member, and also served as chairman, of the Westford, Mass., Planning Board while living there. Fraternally, he held membership in Rising Sun Lodge #39, F & AM in Nashua, N.H., where he was an honorary Past Master, and he started with the Masonic fraternity at Tahattawan Lodge in Littleton, Mass. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Nashua and the NH Consistory, 32nd degree, where he was serving as a sentinel, the York Rite Bodies of Nashua, Meridian Sun Chapter #9, Royal Arch Masons, Israel Hunt Council #8, Royal and Select Masters, St. George Commandery #8 Knights Templar, the Bektash Temple Shriners, A.A.O.N.M.S in Concord and Pilgrim Chapter #55, O.E.S, Nashua. He was also formerly a member of Aleppo Shriners A.A.O.N.M.S in Wilmington, Mass., where he was known as the "Fried Dough Man" and he was on the Director’s staff. He received two awards for his dedication to the Masonic fraternity; the Maj. General John Sullivan Award and the Jeremy Lord Cross Medal from the Grand Lodge of NH. Mr. Morrill was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America in Lowell, and helped with the building of Camp Wah-Tut-Ca of Lowell in Northwood, N.H. for the Lowell (MA) Council. He was also involved with the Bounder’s Program at the Carroll School in Lincoln while his son was a student there. He was educated in Boston and graduated from the Boston Technical High School and Tufts University. In addition to his wife of 23 years, survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Ann and husband Robert Brown of Limington; a son, Joseph and wife Denise Morrill, III of Rochester, N.H.; step-children, E. Lucia and Philip Wright of Newcastle, Judy and John McAnespie of Lowell, Mass., and Lindy and Gary Riedy of Litchfield, N.H.; grandchildren, Zachery, Tyler and Rebecca Fleckner, Joshua and Noah Brown, Daniel and Sarah Morrill, Ellen Gabriella Gamage Wright, Ashley, Christina, and Colleen McAnespie, and Brittany Riedy. The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua, N.H., is in charge of arrangements.
