Joshua Mark Kastelein, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 4, at his home in Plymouth, Mass.
Josh recently moved to Plymouth after accepting the position of Lead Software Engineer for Digital Marketplaces at Boston Globe Media. He was a gifted computer programmer and was excited to begin a new endeavor.
Josh graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1997, and lived in Colorado Springs briefly before returning to Maine and settling in Portland for many years.
He had a curious mind and an open heart, always eager to hear and exchange new ideas. Josh was dedicated to his family, and was a loving father, son, and brother. Many will remember him for his big smile and quick wit.
Josh is survived by sons, Keller and Miles Sims-Kastelein of Portland; parents, Kelly and Ken Kastelein of San Diego, Cal.; brothers, John Kastelein of Portland, and Michael Kastelein and sister-in-law Kate Kastelein of Edgecomb; and grandparents, Dolores and Richard Cope of Ft. Myers, Fla.
Please join his family for a celebration of his life at 1 p.m., Fri., Sept. 12 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta.
