Joyce A. Barry, 68, of Newcastle, passed away peacefully Aug. 18 in Andover, N.H. after a brief illness.
Joyce graduated from Norwalk Community College with a degree in Medical Technology. She spent most of her career at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut where she raised her two children. Joyce had a passion for all things green, as well as literature and after retirement she worked at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay and the Skidompha Library in Damariscotta.
She also greatly enjoyed baking bread and other goodies for her family and friends.
Her love of nature led her to take up kayaking and she spent many hours out on the local lakes and rivers taking special joy in the wonder of the loons, eagles and osprey.
Joyce loved to travel and was blessed to take many great trips with her special friends from Connecticut and Maine.
Joyce leaves her children, Richard and wife Yvette and grandson, Carlos of Andover, Mass. and son, Kevin and grandson, Shawn of Portland.
At Joyce’s request there will be no formal services held.
If desired donations in her memory may be made to the local animal shelter or the Skidompha Library.
