Judith Ann (Jackson) Fletcher, 72, of China, passed away peacefully on April 7 with her family and friends by her side. She passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta following a long illness.
She was born in Belfast on Jan. 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Smith) Jackson. She grew up in Belfast and graduated from Walker High School – Liberty in 1960. She married the late Robert Arvide Fletcher of China in July of 1961 and enjoyed being a housewife and mother for nearly 53 years of her life. Judy was also employed by China Elementary School for several years as a cook in the kitchen. She loved this job because she could be close to her children every day.
Judy enjoyed crafting. She was always doing something with her hands. She had a knack for spotting a unique craft when out and about, then going out and buying the materials to make it which would usually result in everyone getting one as a gift. She loved giving. At Christmas her children and grandchildren could always expect some great item handmade by Mom/Nana.
She loved camping at Pemaquid Point Campground and Sherwood Forest Campsites with her husband and making friends along the way. They had many friends all from all over and when traveling always found themselves staying with one or more of their many camping friends. She truly touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with.
Judy enjoyed going to Bible study and loved all of her friends in her group at the China Baptist Church. They always welcomed her with open arms and when she was sick always offered to come pick her up for Bible study and bring her back home. Even though she battled cancer she always had a positive outlook on life and always had a smile on her face.
Judy is predeceased by her husband Robert Arvide Fletcher; father and mother, Harold and Mildred (Smith) Jackson; brothers, Olan Jackson, Richard Jackson, David Jackson, and Paul Jackson; and sister, Dora (Jackson) Phillips.
She is survived by her sons, David Fletcher of China, Danny Fletcher of Pemaquid, and Bobby Fletcher of Farmingdale; and grandsons, Scott Fletcher and wife Regina of China, and Seth Fletcher of Pemaquid.
