Judith E. Reed, 79, of Wiscasset, peacefully passed away Feb. 8 at Mid Coast Hospital with her family by her side.
Judith was born on April 23, 1934 in Boothbay Harbor to Harold E. and Madeline H. Rines. She graduated from Wiscasset High School, class of 1952.
On March 20, 1954, Judith married Robert S. Reed Sr. and together they raised their seven children. They were married for 43 years until his death in 1997.
Judith enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, having family gatherings, going out to eat and playing Bingo. Judith had a big heart and was always thinking of others first.
Judith was predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Reed Sr.; son, Michael L. Reed; grandsons, Leon R. Doray and Joshua H. Reed; and brothers, Robert and William Rines.
She is survived by her sons, Robert S. Reed Jr. and girlfriend Shari Burbank, Bruce A. Reed and wife Sylvia, and John K. Reed and fiancée April Koehling; daughters, Rebecca J. Mihalos and husband Louis, Kathleen A. Skelton and husband Richard, and Barbara Lori Reed; brother, David Rines; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beverly Rines, Helen Rines, and Harriet Rines; daughter-in-law, Ellie Reed; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend she always considered a daughter, Carolyn Mank.
A celebration of Judith’s life for family and close friends will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Feb. 22 at Carolyn Mank’s house, 432 Lowell Town Rd., Wiscasset.
