Judith Jennings Barnes, 88, of Bremen, passed away March 7 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. She was born in Glen Ellyn, Ill. on Aug. 21, 1922. She graduated from Iowa State University at Ames, with a nutrition degree, and a minor in chemistry. She married Edward Barnes and raised three children at home. She was an active hospital volunteer for many years. She loved to travel, and later in life, spent several years as a tour guide in the South Pacific. She was a talented artist and keen observer of nature. She had an adventurous spirit.
Judith is survived by her former spouse and beloved friend, Edward Barnes of Waldoboro; children, Stephen Barnes and Christopher Barnes of Bremen and Patricia Barnes of New Sharon; and grandchildren, Alfred Mateczun of Topsham and Julia and Elliot Barnes of Bremen.
At her request, a memorial service will be held in the spring at her home in Bremen.
