June H. McElman, 89, of Auburn, formerly of Newcastle and Bath, passed away on the evening of Nov. 9 in Auburn with her family by her side. Born at the United Hospital in Port Chester, N.Y., she was the daughter of William and Alice (Barker) Howard of New Rochelle, N.Y.
June attended The Academy and College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y. She married Harold W. McElman in Bath where they resided for 25 years. She was a secretary and teacher, and also worked for several years at the Cricket Shop gift store.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold; son, Robert McElman; brother, William Howard, Jr.; and sister, Patricia Howard.
She is survived by her son, William H. McElman and wife Sharon of Bath; sister, Marcia Trentin of Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y.; granddaughters, Sandy Foster and husband Scott of Auburn, Sara Guild and husband Ray of Bath, and Susie Webster and husband Dave of Bath; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass 10 a.m., Mon., Nov. 16 at the St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery following the service.
