Kathleen E. Copland, 71, of Boothbay Harbor, died Oct. 15 at the Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village, after a lengthy illness.
Born on Southport, on Feb. 27, 1935, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Winona Taylor Rand.
Katie, as friends and family knew her, was interested in many things. She was an expert knitter and blessed many family members and friends with exquisitely knitted sweaters and afghans. She also loved reading; her cat, Swatty Man; and gardening at her sister Barb’s place; and was particularly interested in genealogy, spending many hours at her computer and at the Southport Historical Society, where she conducted research and served as a docent the last summer she was well.
Katie was predeceased by her parents; dear friend, Nancy Sargent; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rand; and brothers-in-law, George Tibbetts and Antonio Poulin.
Her survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Owen of Boothbay Harbor; grandsons, Brandon Copland, Jeremy Owen, and Taylor Owen, all of Boothbay Harbor; brother, Roscoe Rand, Jr. and wife Valerie of London, Ontario; sisters, Barbara Tibbetts of Southport, and Rebecca Poulin of Jackman; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service 11 a.m., Fri., Oct. 20 at the Southport United Methodist Church, Southport.
