Kathleen “Kay” L. Fairfield, 73, of Wiscasset, passed away March 2 at a Brunswick Hospital.
She was born in Monmouth on May 13, 1933, a daughter of George and Fareda (Davis) Bronson.
At a young age she moved to Bath, attended Bath schools, and graduated from Morse High School in 1951.
On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Robert “Bob” C. Fairfield and together they resided in Wiscasset.
She was employed with her husband at many restaurants that they owned and operated: The Diner in Damariscotta, The Diners Restaurant in Damariscotta, the Wiscasset General Store, The Village Café in Wiscasset and The Fairfield’s Restaurant on Rte. One in Wiscasset. She then continued to work with her husband as a cook at Bath Memorial Hospital and later for Meals on Wheels at the American Legion in Damariscotta.
She enjoyed working side by side with her husband, spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing games, doing puzzles and playing canasta on online.
She was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” C. Fairfield Sr. of Wiscasset; sons, Robert C. Fairfield Jr. and wife Mickey of Cockeysville, Md., Gary N. Fairfield and wife Janet of Wiscasset, and Peter I. Fairfield Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Kandy L. Ward and husband Mark of Wiscasset; and seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Tues., March 6 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset.
Funeral Service 2 p.m., Wed., March 7 at the Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene, 255 Gardiner Rd., Wiscasset, with Pastor Wally Staples officiating.
Gathering of family and friends will follow at the Huntoon Hill Grange in Wiscasset.
Burial will be held at Alna Cemetery in the spring.
