Kathryn B. Hagan, 98, formerly of Bath, died Oct. 24 at Amenity Manor in Topsham.
She was born in Berwick on March 1, 1910, a daughter of Garrett J. and Alice L. (Blair) Galvin.
She gradated from Morse High School in the class of 1926 and Gorham Normal School in 1929. She taught school for four years in East Union and Bath. In 1931 she married Frank W. Hagan Jr. She was employed as a social worker for the State Department of Health and Welfare in Bath, Rockland and Auburn until 1958.
She was a member of the University of Southern Maine Alumni, a member of various extension groups, the Grange and the United Methodist Church in Bath and she also volunteered for Literacy Volunteers in the Bath area.
She and her husband spent many holidays and happy times with Jim and Jean Sutter, their children, Susan and David Sutter and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Noah Freeman. They also enjoyed traveling in Canada, spending time with family and friends and eating out.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank W. Hagan Jr., on July 3, 2006, and a step-sister, Bessie Boudreau.
She is survived by cousins, Jean Sutter and husband Jim of Wiscasset, Marilyn Farnsworth of Damariscotta, Claire Gardiner and husband Bill of Ethel, La., and Burnette Wallace of Woolwich.
She had many special care givers at Amenity Manor who became familiar with her many stories and poems and provided some enjoyment and comfort to her during her time spent there.
Memorial service 2 p.m., Sat., Nov. 1 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset with Rev. Wally Staples officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.
