Kathryn Verna Swensen Thomson, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away peacefully on Aug. 29 after a long, valiant battle with cancer. She was born on June 28, 1953 to Joseph and Verna Swensen. She married Steven Thomson in 1976 and then later divorced.
Kathryn had a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Masters in remedial reading, but her true passion was caring for her “children” at Rocky Coast Group Home in Boothbay.
She was known for her charming wit and dry sense of humor which stayed with her right up until her passing.
She is survived by her close friend and ex-husband Steven; son, Matthew; brothers, Fred and Paul; sisters-in-law, Ann and Sandra; grandchildren, Chase and Cruz; nieces Melissa and Elizabeth; and nephews, Christian and Brian.
A memorial will be planned for a later date.
