Kathy Packard-Hastings, 58, passed away unexpectedly on June 13 at Maine Medical Center in Portland with her family by her side. She was born on Aug. 27, 1959, to Joseph Packard and Nancy (Lewis) Packard in Rockland.
Kathy was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School, Class of 1977. Kathy was married to Paul Hastings for 27 years. She worked at many places over the years but most recently at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta for more than 20 years working with the elderly as a med tech. Kathy enjoyed reading and working in her flower gardens, as well as fishing and trapping and waiting for the weather to be right to sit on the front porch listening to Bob Seger. Kathy and Paul loved going up to camp in Springfield.
Kathy is predeceased by her brother-in-law, William “Wild Bill” Hastings.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 27 years, Paul Hastings of Waldoboro; parents, Joseph and Nancy Packard of Waldoboro; son, Daniel Simmons and fiancee Jamie Kennard; and only grandson, Kaleb Michael, all of Waldoboro; step-son, Jeramiah Hastings and wife Farrah of Holden; brother, Nathan Packard and significant other Jan Costigan of Waldoboro; sister, Marie Chadwick and husband Wayne of Sebec; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Debbie Hastings of South Hope, Florence and Lewis Merrifield of South Hope, Beatrice Norwood of Millinocket, Helen and Wendell Ware Sr. of Washington, and Austin Hastings of Millinocket; and many nieces, nephews aunts and uncles.
Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 p.m., Mon., June 18 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tues., June 19 at the East Union Cemetery, Miller Rd., Union.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, 205 Churchill Rd., Augusta, ME 04330 where Kathy and Paul have been members for many years.
