Keith Albert Pomroy, 80, of West Gardiner, formerly of Pemaquid, passed away at his home Oct. 11. He was born in Corinth on July 26, 1929, son of Perley and Hazel Pomroy. He attended Bentley and Husson Colleges, where he studied accounting and business education. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps 1947-50 where he achieved the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd class.
Upon completion of his service, he went on to have a 25-year career with AT&T in New York. He chose early retirement in order to spend more time with his family. He had married the love of his life, Andrea Elizabeth Rockhold and they returned to Maine to raise their son, Shawn Ross Pomroy. Keith flourished in retirement taking on several hobbies to include computing, woodworking, rug hooking and other projects. An accomplished sailor, Keith and his family enjoyed navigating the Maine coast near their home in Pemaquid Falls and sailing Sebec Lake on vacations. He also enjoyed ice boating and was happy to teach newcomers the sport. Philanthropists, he and his wife believed in giving back to their communities. An active volunteer, he gave hundreds of hours of service to both Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover Foxcroft and Augusta General Hospital. Always quick with a joke and a smile, he brightened the day of staff and patients alike.
A devoted family man, he is survived by son, Shawn Ross Pomroy and Shawn’s wife, Patricia; grandsons, Nicholas Albert and Elvis Aaron; sister, Nancy Elaine Soucy of Brewer; and many nieces, nephews and their children.
