Kenneth Dalton Hall Jr., 79, of Somerville, died Sept. 3 at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta.
He was born May 26, 1931 on Vinalhaven, a son of the late Kenneth D. and Alice J. (Dyer) Hall Sr.
Mr. Hall was a graduate of Vinalhaven High School, a member of the class of 1949. Of the seven members of his graduating class he was one of three still remaining. He served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict with U.S. Air Force. On July 25, 1953 he married the former Juliette Mary Bridges in Rockport.
For more than 17 years he worked for United Technologies in East Hartford, Conn. In 1971 they moved back to Maine where he worked for CMP where he retired after 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Malcolm Glidden Post 163 in Palermo; St. George Masonic Lodge No. 16 in Warren; and a charter member of the Orff’s Corner Community Church in Waldoboro. Mr. Hall was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a family man who loved being together. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a kind and gentle man.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hall is preceded in death by a son, John Hall, who died in 2004.
In addition to his loving wife of more than 57 years of Somerville, Mr. Hall is survived by his children, Gregory Hall of Union, Debbie Kennedy and husband Dana of Union, Kendall Hall and wife Mona of Nobleboro and Bruce Hall and companion Sue Carey of Bangor; grandchildren, James Hall and wife Nichole of Jefferson, Jennifer Anderson of Friendship and Shelby Anderson and husband Travis of Warren and Ashley Kelley and husband Carson of Holden; sister, Edyth Nolan of Topsham; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to join his family for a celebration of Mr. Hall’s life 1 p.m., Sun., Sept. 19 at the home of his daughter Debbie and Dana Kennedy, 2529 Heald Highway (Rt. 17) in Union.
