Kenneth O’Brien, 48, of Wells, passed away Feb. 5 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y. on Jan. 17, 1961, a son of John Joseph and Kathryn Delores (Kane) O’Brien.
Ken grew up in Yonkers, N.Y. He met his wife, Donna Jane (Ross), while they were both working at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass. In 1999 they moved to Mid-coast Maine, and in 2006 settled in Wells.
Ken was enthusiastic about teaching; he most recently taught at Wells Adult Education and Northern Essex Community College. He was a faithful member of Messiah Christian Church. He loved the ocean, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family. Ken was a devoted husband and loving father of four children.
Ken was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; three sons, Ryan Philip McCaffrey of Portland, Brandon Alan McCaffrey of Portland, and Kyle Patrick O’Brien of Wells; daughter, Meghan Allison McCaffrey of Wells; brother, Greg O’Brien of Mohegan Lake, N.Y.; and sisters, Marty McCarthy of Brandon, Fla., and Judi Catalon of Cumberland, R.I.
Calling hours 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 12. Memorial service 10 a.m., Fri., Feb. 13 at Messiah Christian Church, Wells.
