Kenneth William Thayer, 75, of Whitefield, passed away May 23 at the Winship Green Nursing Facility in Bath.
He was born in Newcastle on March 12, 1933, a son of Charles and Mary (Oliver) Thayer.
Ken had been employed at Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1994. He was a graduate of Bridge Academy in Dresden. He enjoyed his children, going outdoors, fishing, hunting, ice fishing, and cooking. He made very good peanut butter fudge.
He was predeceased by his parents, half-brother Herman Edward Thayer, his aunt Venice and cousin Edith Steward.
He is survived by his son Leon Thayer of Whitefield; daughter, Pam Thayer of Rockport; two brothers, Charles L. Thayer of Pittston and Hallis Thayer of Whitefield; sister, Carolyn Thayer Bailey of Wiscasset; and several nieces, nephews, and aunts.
Visiting hours 4-7 p.m., Tues., May 27 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Funeral service 11 a.m., Wed., May 28. Burial will follow in the Whitefield Cemetery.
