Larry A. Jenkins, 63, of Warren, died peacefully Dec. 31 at his home. Larry was born in Portland on July 7, 1945, the son of the late John and Doris Bowley Jenkins.
Larry grew up in Warren and attended local schools and was a graduate of Warren Academy class of 1965. Upon graduation Larry along with his brother Barrie joined the U.S. Air Force, serving his country in the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1969, Larry returned home and began working for his grandfather at Bowley’s, and eventually took over the family business. Larry was also an avid coin collector and dealer running a small coin shop in Warren attached to his tire service business. Larry helped to form the Knox County Coin Club and was the club’s first president. He was a lifetime fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Larry also enjoyed metal detecting. He was known to find coins where there were none. He had a story for everyone and was always quick to tell one.
Survivors include his daughter, Pam Fish and husband Christopher of Owls Head; twin brother, Barrie Jenkins of Warren; grandsons, Cody and Caleb Fish of Owls Head; granddaughter, Chelsea Fish of Owls Head; nephews, David Jenkins and wife Megan of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael Jenkins and wife Christine of Gilbert, Ariz.; and great-nieces, Gabbi and Lexi Jenkins of Gilbert, Ariz.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri., Jan. 2 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Funeral service 1 p.m., Sat., Jan. 3 at the funeral home with a service of burial to take place afterwards in the Fairview Cemetery in Warren.
