Laurel C. Keith, 48, of Nobleboro, passed away on the afternoon of Jan. 27 at her home.
The daughter of Frank S. and Ruth Ann (Rittall) Keith, she was born in Damariscotta July 28, 1959. For many years Laurel had resided in Woolwich, but for the past 18 years she had been living with her brother, Larry and his wife Evelyn and nephew Sumner and niece Opal Keith, where she was an important part of their loving home.
She had a longtime passion for the Special Olympics, both participating in and supporting others. A vital member of the Mobius community, Laurel also worked at several jobs of which she was very proud. Those included the Science Source, P.O.D. Pottery and the Yellowfront Grocery Store.
Laurel is survived by brothers, Larry Keith of Nobleboro, Charles D. Keith of Virginia, Robert Hatch of Newcastle, Scott Keith of Norridgwock, and R. Micheal Marcia of Fairfield; sisters, Maureen Meggison of Limington, Daureen Lord of Pittsfield, and Karleen Olafson; mother, Ruth Ann Carrigan of Madison; maternal grandmother, Jennie Rittall of Nobleboro; several nephews and nieces; and special friends, Hazel Sutor and Robbie Knox.
Friends are invited to be with the family 2-4 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 31 at Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
Service to honor her life 11 a.m., Fri., Feb. 1 at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Wyand of the First Baptist Church, Nobleboro, officiating. Laurel will be laid to rest at the Lake View Cemetery, West Gouldsboro, in the spring.
