Lawrence Elliott Anderson died Oct. 13 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, after a long illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 29, 1935, the son of Thomas and Audhild Forsheim Anderson.
He spent his school years in Olive Bridge, N.Y. with his parents, who ran a boarding home. As a young boy, he enjoyed horseback riding, and throughout the years enjoyed boating.
He was a photographer for the Kanasee Courier in New York, and a truck driver for Miller High Life Company, after which he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years.
He moved to Washington in 1976, and later moved to Liberty, until he retired in 1993 as a correctional officer from the Maine State Prison in Thomaston.
After retirement, he enjoyed watching old TV movies, WWII histories, and biographies. He enjoyed traveling by train to Davenport, Fla. during the winter months, and spent summers at Sennebec Campground in Appleton.
He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Ina A. Firth of Liberty and Davenport, Fla.; daughters, Patricia Lavelle and husband James of Claremont, Fla., Theresa A. Creamer and husband Ronald, Jr. of Liberty, Christine Weber and husband Terry of W. Shokan, N.Y., and Marie Larose and companion Loren “Sam” Umpan of Phonecia, N.Y.; sons, Lawrence W. Anderson and companion Cecelia Chippa of W. Shokan, N.Y. and Thomas Anderson of W. Shokan, N.Y.; grandchildren: Jennifer and Ronald Creamer III of Liberty; Andrea, Cassandra, Ashley, Caylee, Bridget and Taylor Weber of W. Shokan, N.Y.; Tyler Larose of Phonecia, N.Y.; Lawrence, and Tiffany and Stephanie Anderson of W. Shokan, N.Y.; brother, Thomas A. Anderson and wife Karen of Greensboro, N.Y.; nephew, Robert Anderson of New York; several cousins; and Ina’s three children and their families.
Graveside service 3:30 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 19 at the Levensaler Cemetery in Washington with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating.
