Lawrence F. “Larry” Record Sr., 90, of Palmetto, Fla., died peacefully July 19. He was a longtime survivor of cancer and heart disease.
Larry was born in Augusta on April 3, 1927, the son of Gertrude Gladys Yeaton.
Following high school at Erskine Academy in South China, he enlisted in the U.S. Army June 26, 1945 and served principally in Italy. Sergeant Technician Record was honorably discharged Feb. 9, 1947.
Larry was married to Edith Ellen “Edie” Keith on June 8, 1947 until she passed in 2008.
Larry worked at the USVA, Togus, and retired in 1983. He also did electrical, heating and plumbing work for over 30 years.
Larry was an active member in numerous fraternal and service organizations including Masons, Shriners, Eastern Star, Knights of Columbus, Grange, and Lions Club. He was often seen working at and enjoying the annual Windsor Fair. He spent summers on Damariscotta Lake.
Surviving are his sons, Lawrence Record Jr. and wife Peggy of Windsor, and Vernon Record and wife Nancy of Steuben; daughters, Patricia Drake and husband Fred of Augusta, Margaret Speck and husband Daniel of Palmetto, Fla., and Pamela Giroux and husband Richard of Ramona, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
No visitation or services are planned.
