Leah S. (Cowan) Morrow, 86, of Westfield, Mass., died Aug. 2. She was born in Damariscotta on May 3, 1920, daughter of the late George A. and Agnes M. (Sproul) Cowan and had resided in Westfield since 1949.
Leah graduated from Lincoln Academy and was on the 1938 State Basketball Championship Team. She was employed as a bookkeeper for the former Hemco Tool and Die in Westfield, Mass., retiring in 1997. Prior to Hemco, she was the bookkeeper for the former Pease Chrysler and Plymouth of Westfield, Mass.
Leah was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Past Matron and a fifty-year member of Golden Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the Nile. She was a Pink Lady at Noble Hospital with over 4400 hours of service and enjoyed Bingo.
She was the widow of Martin J. Morrow, who died in 1974. Leah leaves her sons, James M. Morrow and wife Nancy, and Richard N. Morrow and wife Dolores, all of Westfield, Mass.; sister, Lydia Van Varick of Maitland, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher, Victoria, Joshua, and Jeffrey Morrow, and Michelle Lindsay and Erin Haenlin; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Theodore, George, Hubert and Walter Cowan; two sisters, Carrie Martin and Althea Pendleton; and two half-brothers, Edward Sproul and Otto Cowan.
Funeral 10 a.m., Tues., Aug. 8 at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, Mass. with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield. Calling hours 5-8 p.m., Mon., Aug. 7.
